IPTV providers must keep a close watch on the quality of the content they’re delivering—and they know it. That was the primary finding of a survey conducted by Multimedia Research Group (MRSG) at Symmetricom’s request to assess the need for IPTV test, measurement and monitoring solutions.

The biggest problem for IPTV service providers is one that the cable industry has been fighting for years. Over 90 percent of respondents said they were notified about service quality problems from subscriber calls, and poor video quality, 77 percent of respondents said, is the main driver of churn. Waiting until a customer complains exacerbates the situation.
