Having served the FCC since 2001, Michael Copps chaired yesterday’s meeting on developing a framework for broadband regulation to vindicate himself from the last 10 years of decisions at the FCC, where Copps was often in a minority position as a decision maker. At the end of the meeting, the FCC voted 3 to 2 to proceed with the Notice of Inquiry to develop a framework for regulating Internet broadband services, the move is seen by many as very controversial.
