In-Stat report reveals that game consoles are now the most popular vehicle for bringing web-based video to televisions, and by 2013, the number of consoles used for this purpose will surpass 10.7 million. By that same time, revenues from streaming web content to TVs will hit an impressive $2.9 billion. And if that wasn’t enough consumer penetration for you, within the next five years, analysts predict that 24 million households will be watching Web-to-TV content. Given that In-Stat found that 29 percent of 25 to 34 year olds in the US already stream video through gaming consoles, it’s easy to imagine the kind of massive expansion analysts are predicting.
