Gartner: Semiconductor Foundry Business Will Bounce Back

In fact, the growth rate of foundries overall will be higher than the growth rate of the overall semiconductor industry. In 2008, the overall semiconductor industry revenue dropped by 4.4% while the chip foundry industry managed nearly 3% growth. Overall chip industry and foundry revenue will decline in 2009. However, in 2010 overall semiconductor revenue will grow 14.6% while chip foundry sales will rise 25.1%. In 2011 semiconductor revenue will rise 9.4% while foundry revenue will eclipse 18.5%, according to Gartner, based in Stamford, Conn.
