A recently published report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, reveals that the enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) market posted strong results in the first quarter of 2006, growing 48 percent year-over-year to $290 million. The report also shows a distinct transition of sales to newer architecture equipment, consisting of dependent access points (APs) managed by switch/appliances, which grew 54 percent during the first quarter. This increase more than compensated for a 22 percent decline in sales of autonomous APs and server/appliances.
