RECOVERY in global demand for semiconductor sales is expected to see an expansion in the production numbers of industries for March, said economists.
A poll by 10 economists on the industrial production index for March indicated that the IPI for March could average at 4.28 per cent year-on-year.
Industrial production numbers in February, which expanded at 5.8 per cent year-on-year, has given the market a lot to cheer.
This was because it signalled support from the healthy export demand globally for electrical and electronic products.
The Statistics Department is expected to release the data today.
The Malaysian Institute of Economic Research said the manufacturing sector, being the largest contributor to industrial output, picked up pace from a 5 per cent growth in January to 8.7 per cent in February.
