IDC finds growing interest in Continuous Data Protection

Even as many storage administrators admit that they have limited knowledge about Continuous Data Protection (CDP) products, a majority of survey respondents – about 64% – say that they either currently use them, plan to use them within 12 months, or are evaluating them, a new IDC survey reveals.

Among other key findings of IDC’s survey are the following:

* Most survey respondents have heard of CDP, and one fourth believe that they have a good understanding of it.

* Most end users admit that they are still not sure about the full implications of CDP and about which CDP product to use.

* CDP is not and will not be used as an exclusive replacement for existing methods of data protection.
