Item-Level RFID Tagging Means Dollars and Sense to Retailers

According to a new study from Aberdeen, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), retailers are translating item-level RFID investments into clear, measurable business benefits — benefits sufficient to compel many retailers to adopt RFID in 2008 and beyond, according to the study.

“Retailers are achieving real business benefits directly attributable to item-level RFID deployments. Among Best-in-Class retailers identified by Aberdeen Group research, customer satisfaction has improved by an average of 12% during the past two years and 78% have increased inventory turns by an average of 5.4%, while 76% have increased same-store year-over-year sales,” said Michael Dortch, senior analyst, Aberdeen. “These benefits have driven 44% of retailers surveyed by Aberdeen to adopt RFID, while an additional 40% are planning to deploy.”
