Latest 3D films a better theatre experience

The recent box-office success of 3D films like Coraline and My Bloody Valentine could mean audiences will soon get into the habit of entering the movie theatre with popcorn in one hand and 3D glasses in the other. “The technology is precisely as it was 50 years ago,” explains Jacquelyn Burkell, associate professor of media, information and technoculture at Western. “We’re actually a long way from achieving a true 3D experience. We have better rendering and graphics and because of that, we can achieve a better 3D experience, but the basic 3D technology hasn’t changed at all.”
