Online Game Market to Reach $13 Billion in 2011

In the year 2011 we could be locked in the last desperate battle for humanity vs. the sentient mechanical monsters in the Robocalypse. If we somehow avert this destiny, a new report released from DFC Intelligence suggests that by 2011 the worldwide online game market could grow to more than $13 billion.

The online games market reached $3.4 billion in 2005 and the projected increase is due to a jump in broadband-equipped households, more PC ownership, and connected console videogame systems. Digital distribution, as seen with Xbox Live Arcade and the emergence of episodic content, as well as increasing acceptance of videogames as an advertising medium, also powers the upsurge.
