PC Magazine
Prices on hard drives are expected to slip just a few percent during the fourth quarter. That’s good news for the drive industry, but not as beneficial to consumers, who enjoyed sharp price declines earlier in the year.
Then, prices dropped on average about 20 percent per quarter, especially for notebook disk drives. Prices for equivalent-capacity drives are expected to drop just 4 to 6 percent this quarter, according to research published Wednesday by iSuppli.
Global PC unit shipments will rise by 9.8 percent sequentially in the third quarter and by 12.4 percent in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, worldwide hard-drive shipments will increase by 15 percent in the third quarter and 11.3 percent in the fourth quarter
