India’s expanding middle class has got the demand for cell phones going. According to the latest survey carried out by research firm IDC, as many as 10,000 mobile phones are sold in India every hour.

Interestingly, according to IDC, cheaper prices have brought the phones within the reach of everyone in the world’s second populous country.

India shipped close to 85 million mobile handsets between April 2007 and March 2008, compared to less than 66 million units shipped in the previous fiscal, registering a year-on-year growth of around 29 percent.
